Questions about self healing
Q: I am 33 years old and live in Australia, and have just heard of Jose Silva's Holistic Faith Healing System last week - immediately bought the book You the Healer and have started the daily sessions. I have absolute faith in the power of the mind and have tried for some time to harness its healing powers. I know that this is what I need. My reason for this: I fell of a balcony in March of 1999 and broke T12 vertebrae resulting in paraplegia. I have had some recovery but have a way to go before I get up and walking again. I have a number of questions I was hoping someone could answer for me.
1. I am not working. My primary focus at this stage in my life is to heal my spinal injury. Is it necessary to advance one session per day for learning effectiveness or could I condense it somewhat? (I am very eager as I know already this will work for me!!)
A: What Mr. Silva wrote in the book is what he has found to work best. When you take the course with an instructor, you can learn it in two days. When you do it on your own, this is the procedure that is necessary.
Mr. Silva invested 22 years learning all that he could about how to do these things, so it is usually best to do it the way he says.
Q: 2. In my visualisations at level I not only picture my self as healthy etc, but walking, doing star jumps etc. Prior to learning of alpha level I would visualise my spinal cord as a coaxial cable and joining the individual copper wires. Could you advise what you think may be an effective visualisation for my particular injury?
A: We recommend that you exaggerate your programming, so what you are doing sounds good.
It is also important that you keep your programming "within the possibility area." Therefore, it is good to also program in small steps. What would you consider a sign of improvement in your condition? Program for that. Then when you achieve that, you can use that success to help you achieve more progress.
Enter your level and review your success - recall how you programmed, how you felt when you programmed, what the results were, how you felt when you achieved those results.
Success leads to more success, so always use your successes as points of reference to achieve even more success in your programming
It is good to have the overall goal in mind also. However, you also want to have smaller goals to work on, so that you can see results and evaluate how you are doing.
If you program for something that you can reasonably expect to happen within two or three days and it happens, then you have a great success, keep programming in the same manner. If your condition worsens, that is great too...it is a sign that you need to program differently. Enter your level, figure out what you did when you programmed, and do the opposite. That should then bring you positive results.
Professor John Mihalasky, who headed up the 10-year Executive ESP project at Newark College of Engineering several years ago said that there are people he refers to as "psi-missers." Their "guesses" are always wrong.
One company had an employee like that, so every time they needed to use intuition to help them make a decision, they would ask this employee what he thought they should do - and they would then do the opposite!
Now we know that a person like that can easily change. Just go to level, analyze the situation, and do the opposite of what you have been doing.
You can read more about Professor Mihalasky's work at the Avlis Publishing Web Site: www.avlispub.com. Just go to the Site Index page and you will find Professor Mihalasky listed there.
Q: 3. There is no time period given on the "visualise yourself as healthy, radiant, youthful, attractive." I have elected to visualise for approximately 15 minutes three times a day. Is this to much to soon, given that even though I feel I am at alpha for the full period I may not be?
A: Good question. Mr. Silva recommends that you enter alpha and remain for 15 minutes at least once a day to insure good health, and to work on small health problems. For bigger health problems, 15 minutes twice a day. For serious health problems, 15 minutes three times a day.
During this time you can practice deep relaxation, review your goals and projects, program for other people, etc. Just make sure that you are remaining at your level. If you become too mentally active, too excited, you will come out of alpha.
Do some deepening exercises from time to time: Relax your body, relax your mind, do countdowns from 10 to 1, or 25 to 1, or 50 to 1, or 100 to 1. Do whatever is necessary to insure that you remain at your level.
Now...for visualization: Mr. Silva says that all you need to do is to get a good clear mental picture of what you are programming for, and the feeling that you have achieved it...mentally at least. That is sufficient. If it takes you five minutes to feel that you have achieved it, that's fine. If you can do it in five seconds, that's fine.
What he means by getting a good clear mental picture is to notice details, be aware of details.
As we mentioned before, let your results guide you. If you program and visualize your goal for one minute and you notice some progress during the next few days, that's great. If you then increase the time you spend visualizing to five minutes, notice what your results are:
If they are the same, then either way is fine.
If they are better, keep visualizing for five minutes, and perhaps try and see what happens if you visualize even longer.
If your results are less - or if your condition gets worse when you program for five minutes - then go back to programming for one minute. Perhaps you are dwelling too long on your situation - perhaps there is something else involved; it really doesn't matter what causes the result: All you need to know is to do what produces beneficial results, and avoid anything that produces negative results.
